Why High River windows fail before their time
Founded in 2012, Weather Pro manufactures and installs energy-efficient vinyl windows and exterior doors, selling factory direct and fitting them with our own crews.
High River sits at the mouth of the Highwood valley, where the foothills funnel air straight into town. A Chinook that Calgary feels as a warm afternoon lands here first and harder, and the temperature can move twenty degrees or more before the day is out. A sealed glass unit does not fail from cold. It fails from movement, and this is one of the few places in Alberta where the glass expands and contracts several times in a single week all winter long.
This town has a second timeline. A large share of High River housing was repaired or rebuilt after 2013, and the windows fitted during that rebuild are now in their second decade. Builder-grade sealed units installed under time pressure are exactly the ones showing haze, frost on the frame, and cold rooms this year.
We handle the work end to end. One company measures, builds, installs, and backs the work with a warranty afterward, with no supplier or subcontractor in between.

The vinyl windows we build for High River

Casement windows
Cranks outward on a side hinge and pulls tighter against the frame the harder the wind pushes. In a town that takes gusts straight off the foothills, we most often specify this style on west-facing walls.

Awning windows
Top-hinged, so the open sash sheds rain and wet snow instead of catching it. The usual answer above a kitchen sink, in a bathroom, or in a basement where you want air without giving up the wall.

Tilt and turn windows
One handle, two ways to open. Tilt in at the top for a slow, draft-free air exchange, or swing the sash fully inward to clean the outside glass from inside the room. Locks on four sides.

Specialty shape windows
Arches, half rounds, circles, and angled units drawn for one opening only. Gables, stairwells, and entry surrounds where nothing rectangular fits.

Single slider windows
One sash slides, one stays fixed. Nothing swings past the wall line, which matters on the narrower lots in the older part of town where a walkway or fence runs close to the house.

Double slider windows
Both sashes move, so you can open either side or both at once. Each one tilts out of the track for cleaning without a ladder on a second storey.

Picture windows
No hardware, no opening, no air leakage path. Holds heat better than any operable unit of the same size and gives you the most glass per dollar, which is why it carries the Valley Views on west elevations.

Fixed casement windows
A picture window with a casement profile, so the frame width matches the operating casements beside it instead of reading as a mismatch.

End vent slider windows
A wide fixed centre pane with two opening ends. Built for openings too wide for a single sash where you still want a clean view through the middle.

Single and double hung windows
Sashes move up and down rather than side to side. The double hung tilts both sashes inward for cleaning. The profile suits the heritage streets around the original townsite, where the first windows were hung.

Bay windows
Three sections project from the wall, adding bench depth, floor space, and light from three angles.

Bow windows
Four or more sections curving outward. More glass and a softer line than a bay across the same wall width.
Exterior doors in High River, replaced as a system
An entry door in High River spends the winter being pushed on. Wind off the Highwood Valley loads the whole slab, and a door that has dropped even a few millimetres on its hinges will whistle at the latch side and drift snow across the threshold by January.
Homeowners usually start with a new sweep or a new slab. It rarely holds, because the leak is in the frame, the threshold, or the jamb rather than in the door itself, and a new slab hung in a tired frame reproduces the same gap within a season.
We replace the system. Our entry doors use insulated cores, weather-tight perimeter seals, and multi-point hardware that pulls the slab evenly against the frame rather than relying on the handle alone to hold a seal under wind pressure. Low emissivity glass inserts bring daylight into an entry without the heat loss of older decorative glazing.
Past comfort, the front door is the largest single visual element on most elevations in this town. We carry a range of slab styles, glass options, and finishes so the door reads as part of the house, not a stock replacement dropped into an old opening.

How window installation in High River actually goes
A window is only as good as the opening it sits in. A triple-glazed unit fitted into an unsealed, uninsulated opening will underperform a cheaper window installed properly, every time. The gap left around a frame is rarely wider than a finger, but repeated around every opening in the house, it adds up to a hole nobody would accept in a wall. It is also the one part of the job that disappears behind trim the same day it is done, which is why a shortcut there can go unnoticed for years and only show up as a cold room.
We install with our own crews rather than subcontractors, so we can stand behind it. The people fitting your windows work for the company that built them.
What happens on install day
The crew lays protection over floors and work areas before anything comes out. Old units come out one at a time, and the crew checks and prepares the opening because framing in this town is rarely square and, in homes touched by the 2013 rebuild, can hide moisture damage invisible from the outside. The crew levels, fastens, seals against air and water, and insulates around the full perimeter of the frame. Interior and exterior finishing follows. The crew removes old windows, packaging, and debris, and cleans the work area before they leave. Most High River homes are finished in one day.

Our simple 6-step window replacement process
Measurement
At the first stage, our specialist carefully takes measurements of windows and doors. Using professional measuring tools, we guarantee the accuracy of each measurement to ensure a perfect fit for your needs.
Product Demonstration
At the second step, we present the selected product to you. It is important for you to personally see the quality and design of the item, and to ensure that it will perfectly complement the interior of your home.
Estimate Preparation
In the final step, we provide a precise and transparent estimate. We detail the costs and outline the services to ensure you have a clear understanding of the investment. Our aim is to give you all the information needed to make a confident decision regarding your home’s improvement.
Order & Factory Build
After you approve the estimate, we place your order and build your windows and doors to the measured sizes. As a Canadian manufacturer, we produce the units for your project rather than pulling generic stock, so each opening gets a purpose-built fit.
Professional Installation
On install day, our trained crew protects your floors, removes the old units, and prepares each opening. Your new windows or doors are set level, sealed against air and moisture, and insulated before finishing, then debris is removed so you are not left with cleanup.
Walkthrough & Warranty
When the work is complete, we walk you through how your new windows and doors operate and what your warranty covers. You leave with a clean home, clear next steps for care, and confidence that the project is finished properly.

We are excluding the middleman
Every Weather Pro window and door is built in our own facility, not sourced from a third party and relabelled. That means tighter quality control from raw material to finished frame, and pricing that skips the markups a distributor chain would add.

A window here is not worn down by one thing. Winter cold arrives in cycles rather than one long block, because the town sits where the Chinook arch forms, so a freeze can break into a thaw within hours and refreeze overnight. Each swing makes the glass, the spacer, and the frame expand and contract at different rates, and seals fail from being worked back and forth rather than from any single cold night.
Wind runs year-round and compounds it. Nothing between town and the foothills slows the gusts coming down the Highwood valley, so seals already flexed by temperature are under constant pressure, and sideways snowmelt gets pushed into gaps around the frame instead of running down the wall. Summer adds its own load, with high-elevation sun hardening weatherstripping on south-facing walls long before the first frost.
It is why a fogged unit here is almost always on the west or northwest wall, and why that is the one the homeowner noticed first.
What holds up against it:
- Triple pane windows in High River absorb the temperature swing across two sealed cavities instead of one, so the interior glass moves far less than the exterior pane does
- Insulated vinyl frames with multi-point locking spread the closing pressure across the whole sash rather than one point at the handle, which is what keeps a seal tight under a gust
- Low emissivity coatings reflect interior heat back into the room in winter and cut the solar load coming through the glass in summer
- Warm edge spacers keep the perimeter of the glass warmer, which is exactly where condensation and seal failure begin

Every High River project is guided by a project manager who stays with it from the first consultation to the final installation.
“I take a High River project from the first measurement through to the day the last window goes in. You deal with the same person at every step, so nothing gets handed off and lost along the way.”

Getting real energy savings in a High River winter
New windows cut energy loss most when the glass, frame, and installation all do their part. Weaken one of the three, and the other two take on a load they weren’t designed for.
The glass is the part everyone shops for, and it matters. A triple-glazed unit with a low emissivity coating and an inert gas fill loses a fraction of what a failed double pane loses. But heat also leaves through the frame itself, which is why an insulated multi-chamber vinyl profile beats a hollow one, and it leaves around the frame through gaps that only proper sealing and insulation close.
One local wrinkle is worth knowing. A house that swings through repeated thaws sheds heat differently than one sitting at a steady minus twenty, because every warm spell restarts the cycle of expansion, air movement through worn seals, and condensation on the return to cold. For that reason, tightening the envelope pays off faster here.
Pairing a full replacement with attic and wall insulation compounds the result, and choosing ENERGY STAR-rated products certified for this climate zone gives you a benchmark you can check rather than a claim you have to take on faith. Actual savings depend on the house, the insulation already in it, and the condition of what you are replacing.

What you are actually buying
Comparing window companies in High River is hard because every quote uses the same words. Here is what is different in ours, starting with the part you cannot see: our windows are built with a Quad Seal System, four separate sealing mechanisms working together. Where a standard window relies on one or two points of contact, four layered seals stand between your room and the weather.
Factory direct
We build it and install it, so you have one company to call and nobody to point at.
Quad Seal System
Exterior frame seal, vapour barrier, insulated glass cavity, interior seal. Four chances to stop air and water instead of one.
Energy-efficient products
Triple-glazed, ENERGY STAR rated, certified for this climate zone.
Professional installation
Our own crews. Sealed, insulated, finished, cleaned up.
Transferable lifetime warranty
Coverage stays with the house. If you sell, it passes to the next owner.
Flexible financing
0% APR terms and monthly payments from $49, so the project does not wait on a lump sum.
Free in-home quote

What customers say
4.5Amazing people and product. Keith was very very informative and supportive. The installers were punctual and cleaned up the work area after themselves. The windows are very easy to operate, in comparison to the rest of the windows that we have. The locking mechanism is easy to operate.
Read this review on Trustindex →We are really happy with our new windows. We replaced all 9 and they were installed in one day! Vitalli and Dennis were respectful of our home, hard working and very professional. The ordering process was clear, it did take time for manufacturing but Made in Canada was worth the wait. Vitalli: you dropped $10 by accident in our driveway and can stop by any time and pick it up!! We very much recommend Weather Pro
Read this review on Trustindex →I took my time getting 3 different quotes from different window companies to replace windows in my house. The project was fairly big, 12 windows and 2 doors. Weatherpro gave me a price that worked for me so I ended up choosing them, and I’m really happy with my decision. The whole process took around 2.5 months, as I needed custom sized windows and they had to be manufactured. Everything was installed in 1 day by professional crew. If I ever need more windows replaced I’ll definitely call you guys again!

The installers were on site for 3 days and replaced 11 windows and 4 doors. Not only do the windows and doors look great, but we immediately noticed a drastic difference in the road noise and drafts from the old window.
